What is the Homebound Delivery Program?
The Homebound Delivery Program is a service offered by the Greenfield Public Library and the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library. The purpose is to deliver books to Greenfield residents who are unable to travel to the library.
Who is eligible to receive this service?
The service is intended to serve people who are homebound for any reason. This includes people with permanent or temporary disabilities or health problems, people who are unable to get out because of inclement weather and patrons who have been hospitalized or are temporarily confined in nursing homes.
Who will bring the books to my home?
The books will be brought to your home by a Greenfield Public Library volunteer. The volunteers are men and women who have taken part in a brief training program and are willing to meet with you to discuss your unique needs. They also meet together on a regular basis in order to find ways to improve the service to patrons.
How will the volunteer know what I want from the library?
Do you like Adventure? Mysteries? Travel? Humor? The volunteer will consult with you to learn the types of library resources you desire. S/he will contact you at least every 3 weeks.
Can I take out videos, magazines, and audio books?
Yes, your volunteer will bring you any materials that you would be able to sign out if you were at the library yourself.
