Now That I've Found the Title I Want, What Do the Material Types Mean? A Short Guide:

BOOK: print version of a text.

E-AUDIO: audio book from a company called Overdrive that must be downloaded from the Digital Books website to your home computer (2 week loan) that you can listen to on your computer with special software (available for free on the Digital Books site)or load onto an Windows-compatible MP3 player.

E-BOOK (OVERDR): eBook from a company called Overdrive that must be downloaded from the Digital Books website to your home computer (2 week loan) that you can read on your computer with special software (available for free on the Digital Books site) or load onto a handheld device.

E-BOOK (NETLIB): eBook from NetLibrary that can only be read on a computer (24 hour loan) either at the library's database computer or at your home computer. To check out books from NetLibrary, you need to set up an account. Ask at the Help Desk for more information.

LARGE PRINT: print version of a text with larger, easier to read type.

MICRO: item available on microfilm.

MUSIC (CD): music in a digital format. Discs are 4 3/4" and can be played in cars, stereos, portable music devices, or computers.

MUSIC (MISC): music available in record (33 1/3 format) or other format.

MUSIC (TAPE): music available as a sound cassette.

ONLINE: online version of print publication. Some have remote access capability and can be used at home. Others can only be used in-library.

SOFTWARE: computer floppy discs, CDs, or DVDs for use in home computers.

SPOKEN (MISC): speeches or plays available in record (33 1/3 format) or other format.

SPOKEN (TAPE): audiobook in cassette format that can be played in cars, stereos, or portable music devices.

VIDEO (DVD): movies in digital format. Discs are 4 3/4 and can be played in DVD players, portable DVD viewing devices, or computers.

VIDEO (MISC): movies in filmstrip or multi-reel tape format.

VIDEO (VHS): movies in VHS format that can be played in VCRs.

2-D GRAPHIC: posters, charts, flashcards, etc.
